My University Rocks winner Siddy Bennett to play IVYLIVE

IVYLIVE 2010 will be presenting Siddy Bennett, the Western regional winner of a brand new nationwide Battle of the Bands competition for University students called 'My University Rocks'.

Siddy Bennett beat 12 other student bands from Wales and the South West in the regional heat at Bristol University’s Anson Rooms in June, to take a place at IVYLIVE which has become one of the sponsoring festivals for My University Rocks.

Judged to be the top act by Sian Evans, Lead Singer of Kosheen and Sam Downie, a Bristol Music Journalist and Radio Presenter, Siddy Bennett promises to be everything you'd expect from a festival set by a professional outfit. The band is already making a big name for themselves in the West Country with their beautifully crafted mix of folk-roots, blues and indie rock, combining jangling acoustics guitars with violin leads and always a sweet vocal sound.

My University Rocks has so far turned out some very successful bands that will be competing in the final in October. Organisers John Shoyoye and Nathan Robinson, who started out the project as a final year business venture for their commercial music degrees at Bath Spa University last year, are very confident that Siddy's performance will ensure another year of successful partnering with IVYLIVE, who were one of the first festivals to have the foresight to back this ambitious and exciting new project.
