ROCK and indie bands Athlete and The Magic Numbers have been announced as the headline acts for this year's Ivylive event.

Now in its third year, the Filham Park event has grown in size and stature since its humble beginnings in 2008.

This year the three-day fiesta in Ivybridge boasts a huge line-up of local and national acts which are sure to attract thousands.

As well as Athlete and The Magic Numbers, the line-up for the September event also includes Plymouth's urban rapper Cosmo Jarvis; Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly; Teignmouth quartet The Quails, and folk star Dan Donnelly.

Many of the acts are well-known on the festival circuit with a number appearing at this year's Glastonbury Festival.

Ade Atkinson, festival organiser, said his team is "ecstatic" to announce such a well-known line-up of acts.

"As a team we have been overwhelmed by the opportunities we have been given this year to put this line-up on," he said.

"It is a line-up which will appeal to everyone with national bands and local acts. We're ecstatic about it.

"This is our third year and we have had a groundswell of interest from the public. Even prior to the release of the festival dates we had so much interest. It has grown beyond our expectations."

The event will run between Friday September 10 and Sunday September 12.

Athlete will headline on the Friday evening with support from The Quails, Mad Dog Mcrea and Crazy Arm among many others.

The Magic Numbers will headline on the Saturday with support slots from Cosmo Jarvis and Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly as well as others.

Further acts are expected to be announced over the course of the summer months.

Ade said while the event has grown over the past three years its ethos has not changed.

"We don't want to indulge in single-minded commercialism," he added. "We are a proud and independent festival and we do what we want.

"We want to encompass and cater for a variety of ages and promote a friendly atmosphere."

Ivylive boasts an outdoor main stage, a big top stage — including late night 'silent disco' using headphones, a lounge stage featuring stand-up, dance and open mic, and a camping area. A trading village, bars and plenty of children\'s entertainment is also promised.
